Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Quality Assurance Associate
Frame your role as a specialty occupation
QA Associate positions only qualify for H-1B or E-3 sponsorship when the job requires a specific bachelor's degree. Emphasize degree requirements in your resume and target employers whose job postings list a technical degree as mandatory, not preferred.
Target industries with the highest sponsorship rates
Pharmaceutical, medical device, and software companies file LCAs for QA roles far more consistently than retail or general manufacturing. Focus your search on these sectors, where FDA compliance and software testing create genuine demand for degreed QA professionals.
Highlight your technical specialization clearly
Generic QA experience is harder to sponsor than a specialized profile. If you focus on automation testing, regulatory compliance, or validation engineering, make that specialization prominent so employers and immigration attorneys can build a stronger specialty occupation case.
Understand the LCA before your offer letter
Before your employer files your H-1B or E-3 petition, they must certify a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. This step confirms the offered wage meets prevailing wage levels for QA roles in your work location.
Confirm degree field alignment with the job description
A QA Associate role requiring a degree in quality engineering, computer science, or life sciences is easier to sponsor than one open to any bachelor's degree. Ask hiring managers whether the degree requirement is specific before investing time in the application.
Browse sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Not every QA Associate posting is tied to a sponsoring employer. Migrate Mate filters jobs specifically for visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table for the hiring team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Quality Assurance Associate role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
It depends on how the role is defined. A QA Associate position qualifies as a specialty occupation only when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as computer science, engineering, or life sciences. Roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement are harder to sponsor under H-1B visa. Pharmaceutical validation and software QA roles tend to have the clearest specialty occupation arguments.
Which visa types are most commonly used to sponsor QA Associates?
H-1B is the most common pathway for QA Associates, though it requires winning the annual lottery. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and significantly less competition. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the QA role maps to an eligible USMCA occupation category. L-1 visa transfers are possible if you're moving within a multinational company.
What degree do I need for a QA Associate to get visa sponsorship?
Most sponsored QA Associate roles require a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, chemistry, or a life sciences field. A general business or unrelated degree weakens the specialty occupation argument. If your degree doesn't align directly, relevant graduate coursework or a master's in a technical field can help bridge the gap and strengthen the petition.
How can I find Quality Assurance Associate jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists QA Associate roles from employers actively open to visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through hundreds of postings that exclude international applicants. Filtering by sponsorship willingness early in your search saves significant time and helps you focus on companies that have already sponsored similar roles.
Are QA Associate roles more likely to be approved in certain industries?
Yes. Pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies have the strongest track record of sponsoring QA Associates because FDA regulatory requirements make degreed QA professionals a genuine business necessity, which supports the specialty occupation standard. Software and fintech companies are also strong sponsors for QA automation roles. General manufacturing and retail QA positions are approved less consistently because degree requirements are often less specific.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Quality Assurance Associate jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
