- Establish strong partnerships with institutional business developers to broaden awareness and adoption of Wellington’s solutions capabilities across institutional clients.
- Partner closely with other product strategists to identify, advance, and appropriately transition commercial opportunities related to QIG and Equity Solutions capabilities.
- Engage directly with institutional investors, consultants, and prospects to present Wellington’s investment and solutions capabilities, uncover client challenges, and develop strategic investment dialogue.
- Act as a senior commercial bridge between investment teams and distribution teams, ensuring complex investment capabilities are translated into clear, compelling, and differentiated client solutions.
- Maintain deep awareness of institutional market trends, competitor positioning, consultant dynamics, and evolving client demands to help inform commercial priorities and strategic positioning.

- Minimum of 15 years of industry experience, with the majority spent in senior commercialization, or multi-asset solutions business development roles at a leading global investment organization.
- Demonstrated success commercializing multi-asset solutions with institutional investors and consultants, including public private experience.
- Deep understanding of institutional portfolio construction, asset allocation, OCIO models, and public/private investment solutions.

Position the role as a specialty occupation
H-1B approval hinges on proving the Solutions Director role requires a specific bachelor's degree. Emphasize technical depth, such as systems architecture or enterprise software expertise, not just general management. Generic leadership descriptions weaken the petition significantly.
Explore L-1A if transferring within your company
If you currently work for a multinational employer, the L-1A intracompany transfer visa bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. You need at least one continuous year abroad with the same employer in a managerial or executive capacity within the past three years.
Document your client-facing technical authority
Sponsoring employers strengthen H-1B petitions by showing the Solutions Director makes independent technical decisions, not just relationship management calls. Include examples of solution designs, implementation oversight, or pre-sales engineering leadership in your supporting documentation.
Target employers with established sponsorship track records
Large enterprise software companies, consulting firms, and managed service providers routinely sponsor Solutions Directors. These organizations have immigration counsel on retainer and understand the petition requirements, making the process faster and less likely to result in a Request for Evidence.
Prepare for prevailing wage scrutiny at senior levels
Solutions Director roles often fall into Wage Level III or IV under Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations. Your employer must certify the offered compensation meets that threshold on the Labor Condition Application before the H-1B petition can be filed with USCIS.
Understand how your degree field affects approval odds
A degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering aligns most directly with technical Solutions Director roles. Business administration degrees can work but may prompt additional scrutiny. A mismatch between degree field and job duties is one of the most common RFE triggers for this title.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Solutions Director role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but the petition needs to establish the role as a specialty occupation, meaning it theoretically requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Solutions Director roles that blend general sales management with technical duties can face RFEs if the employer's job description doesn't clearly require a degree in a defined discipline like engineering, computer science, or information systems.
What visa options exist for Solutions Directors outside the H-1B lottery?
The L-1A intracompany transfer is the strongest alternative if you're moving from an overseas office of the same company in a managerial or executive role. The O-1A is viable if you have documented extraordinary achievement, such as industry awards, published work, or a record of leading high-profile enterprise implementations. Both bypass the H-1B lottery entirely.
Does my degree field matter for Solutions Director sponsorship?
It matters more than most candidates expect. USCIS evaluates whether your specific degree supports the duties of the role. A computer science or engineering degree pairs cleanly with a technical Solutions Director position. A general business degree can work if the job description emphasizes technical system design, but the employer will likely need a stronger evidentiary record to support the petition.
How do I find companies actively sponsoring Solutions Directors?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces visa-sponsoring employers hiring for Solutions Director roles and filters out companies that don't sponsor. Department of Labor LCA disclosure data also shows which employers have filed for similar titles historically, which is a reliable proxy for sponsorship willingness at the senior solutions and pre-sales leadership level.
What is the approval rate for H-1B petitions filed for Solutions Directors?
USCIS doesn't publish approval rates broken down by job title, but senior client-facing roles in technology and consulting generally see approval rates above 85% when the petition is well-documented. The most common denial reason for this title is failure to establish specialty occupation, particularly when the job description reads more like a sales management role than a technically specialized position.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Solutions Director jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
