Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Supply Planner
Target employers with established supply chain teams
Large manufacturers, consumer goods companies, and third-party logistics firms sponsor Supply Planners far more consistently than small businesses. Companies with dedicated procurement and operations departments already have immigration infrastructure in place, making sponsorship faster and less complicated.
Highlight specific ERP and planning tool experience
Proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case significantly. USCIS scrutinizes Supply Planner petitions, so linking your technical skills directly to the degree requirement helps establish that the role genuinely qualifies.
Frame your degree field carefully in applications
Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, and Business Analytics all support specialty occupation classification. If your degree is in a related but less obvious field, prepare documentation showing how your coursework directly applies to the planning functions of the role.
Pursue TN status if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Canadian and Mexican nationals can qualify for TN visas under the USMCA as Management Consultants or Industrial Engineers, depending on the role's actual duties. TN status is faster than H-1B and avoids the lottery entirely, making it worth discussing with any sponsoring employer.
Get a written offer that specifies degree requirements
The offer letter or job description must state that a bachelor's degree in a specific field is required, not merely preferred. A job posting that says 'degree preferred' weakens the specialty occupation argument substantially, so confirm this detail with your employer before the petition is filed.
Browse sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate before applying
Filtering for Supply Planner roles on Migrate Mate shows you employers already open to visa sponsorship, saving time you'd otherwise spend asking companies cold. Applying directly to sponsorship-friendly employers improves your odds of reaching offer stage significantly.

Find Supply Planner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Supply Planner role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but it's not automatic. USCIS expects the employer to demonstrate that a specific bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations research, or a closely related field is a normal minimum requirement for the role. Generic Supply Planner postings that accept any bachelor's degree are more likely to receive a Request for Evidence. Employers with strong, degree-specific job descriptions have a better track record of approval.
Which degree fields best support a Supply Planner sponsorship petition?
Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, and Business Analytics are the strongest choices because they map directly to planning functions. Degrees in general Business or Management are harder to use unless your coursework included significant quantitative or logistics components. If your degree is in a tangential field, a credential evaluation and supporting documentation showing relevant coursework can help establish equivalency for the petition.
Are there visa options for Supply Planners that avoid the H-1B lottery?
Yes. Canadian and Mexican citizens can pursue TN visas under the USMCA, typically classified as Management Consultants or Industrial Engineers depending on actual job duties. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has its own annual allocation that has never been exhausted. Both pathways bypass the H-1B cap entirely and can be processed on significantly shorter timelines than a cap-subject H-1B petition.
How common is H-1B sponsorship for Supply Planner positions?
Supply Planner sponsorship is moderately common. Large companies in manufacturing, retail, and consumer goods file LCAs for planning roles regularly, and DOL disclosure data shows consistent filings from employers like Amazon, Procter and Gamble, and Walmart. Smaller companies and startups are far less likely to sponsor. Focusing your search on enterprise-level operations gives you the best chance of finding a willing employer. Migrate Mate filters for sponsoring employers specifically, which narrows the field efficiently.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B as a Supply Planner without losing status?
Yes, through H-1B portability. If you've been in valid H-1B status, your new employer files a transfer petition before your current job ends, and you can start the new role as soon as the receipt notice is issued without waiting for approval. The new petition must still satisfy specialty occupation requirements, so the incoming role needs a qualifying degree requirement and a properly filed LCA. Gaps between employment can complicate portability, so timing the transition carefully matters.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Supply Planner jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
