X-Ray Tech Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a x-ray tech in Michigan?
To work as an x-ray tech in Michigan, you must hold a valid Michigan radiologic technologist license issued by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. To qualify, you complete an accredited radiologic technology program, typically an associate degree, and pass the ARRT radiography examination. You then apply to LARA for licensure. Michigan requires license renewal on a regular cycle with continuing education to maintain active status.
Which companies hire x-ray techs in Michigan?
Companies currently hiring x-ray techs in Michigan include The University of Michigan, UP Health System, and American Traveler, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Michigan's large integrated health systems and regional hospital networks account for the majority of open positions, with consistent volume across metro Detroit, West Michigan, and the Lansing corridor.
Which Michigan cities have the most x-ray tech jobs?
Ishpeming, Lansing, and Michigan have the most x-ray tech openings in Michigan. Metro Detroit leads because of its dense concentration of major hospital systems and specialty imaging centers, while Grand Rapids draws volume from Spectrum Health and a growing network of outpatient facilities, and Lansing sees steady postings tied to regional medical centers and state-affiliated health programs.
Are there remote x-ray tech jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they're rare. X-ray tech work is hands-on by nature and requires operating imaging equipment at a physical site, so fully remote positions are limited to a narrow set of teleradiology support and scheduling functions. About 0% of x-ray tech openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles typically involve administrative coordination or remote image quality review rather than direct patient imaging.
How can I get hired as a x-ray tech in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate positions at large Michigan health systems, which regularly post staff tech openings designed for recent ARRT passers. Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health both run structured onboarding for new graduates, and many Michigan community hospitals hire entry-level techs who hold an active ARRT credential and a Michigan LARA license. Completing a clinical rotation at a Michigan facility and securing a letter of recommendation from your program director gives you a clear edge over candidates without local clinical exposure.
Where can I find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employers posting them.
