Account Project Manager Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account project manager in Alabama?
Most Alabama employers require a bachelor's degree in business, project management, communications, or a closely related field as the foundation for this role. Alabama does not require a state-issued license to work as an account project manager, but earning a Project Management Professional certification through PMI or a CAPM for early-career candidates significantly strengthens your standing with the defense and manufacturing employers concentrated in Huntsville and Birmingham.
How much do account project managers make in Alabama?
Account project managers in Alabama earn a median of about $100,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,550 for the lowest 10% to over $164,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account project managers in Alabama?
Alabama account project manager roles are posted by State Farm, Leidos, and Baptist Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alabama's defense, healthcare, and financial services industries generate the most sustained hiring volume for this role across the state.
Which Alabama cities have the most account project manager jobs?
Huntsville, Birmingham, and Mobile carry the most account project manager openings in Alabama. Birmingham drives demand through its concentration of financial services, healthcare systems, and regional corporate headquarters, while Huntsville's defense and aerospace contractors create a consistent need for program and account coordination, and Mobile's port logistics and manufacturing base rounds out the distribution.
Are there remote account project manager jobs in Alabama?
Yes, and more than most fields, since account project management is fundamentally a desk-based, communication-driven role that translates well to distributed work. About 35% of account project manager openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly companies have embraced flexible arrangements for this function. Client reporting, budget tracking, and internal coordination are the responsibilities most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a account project manager in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an adjacent coordinator or analyst role into an account project manager title at a mid-size Alabama firm. Large employers like Protective Life, Regions Financial, and major Huntsville defense contractors regularly hire project coordinators and account support associates as stepping stones into full account project manager positions. Completing a CAPM certification and building a portfolio of coordinated deliverables, even from internships or volunteer work, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to these programs.
