Energy Project Manager Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a energy project manager in Alabama?
Most Alabama employers require a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, plus demonstrated project management experience in energy or industrial settings. A Project Management Professional certification strengthens your candidacy significantly. Alabama does not issue a state-specific license for project managers, but engineers leading certain technical scopes may need a Professional Engineer license through the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
How much do energy project managers make in Alabama?
Energy project managers in Alabama earn a median of about $162,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $106,100 for the lowest 10% to over $236,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire energy project managers in Alabama?
Employers hiring energy project managers in Alabama right now include Baptist Health, Huntsville Hospital Health System, and AltaPointe Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alabama's energy sector draws hiring from utilities, defense-adjacent energy contractors, and industrial manufacturers concentrated around Birmingham, Huntsville, and the Gulf Coast.
Which Alabama cities have the most energy project manager jobs?
Alabaster, Huntsville, and Mobile account for the most energy project manager openings in Alabama. Birmingham anchors the market as home to Alabama Power's headquarters and a dense cluster of engineering firms, while Huntsville's defense and advanced manufacturing base drives demand for energy infrastructure managers, and Mobile's port and industrial corridor supports utility and energy efficiency project work.
Are there remote energy project manager jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since energy project managers are frequently needed on construction sites, at substations, or at plant facilities. About 22% of energy project manager openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work most often attached to planning, reporting, and stakeholder coordination phases rather than active construction or commissioning work.
How can I get hired as a energy project manager in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to begin in a project coordinator or field engineer role supporting larger energy projects, then build toward full project management responsibility. Alabama Power and Tennessee Valley Authority both run associate and rotational programs that place early-career candidates on infrastructure teams. A PMP certification-in-progress, OSHA construction safety training, or experience with scheduling software makes a junior candidate noticeably more competitive for these openings.
Where can I find and apply to energy project manager jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to energy project manager jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current Alabama openings across utilities, industrial contractors, and energy developers. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
