Job Description Summary:
Senior Asset Management Accountant
Position Responsibilities
- Tracks, compiles, and records project costs in fixed asset accounts; close out the accounts at the completion of the projects.
- Perform advanced level work requiring the analysis, interpretation and audit of fiscal and accounting data.
- Perform analysis of CIP accounts, invoices, interoffice, memos, and emails for cost allocations.
- Initiate communications with the different departments to establish budget limits and confirm operational statuses of CIPs.
- Records fixed assets by creating and supervising a system of procedures, forms, and controls.
- Carries out periodic reviews on intangible assets' impairment.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the centralized accounting and financial reporting for assigned grant portfolio, including preparing annual and project budgets, forecasting revenue, estimating any carry-over of funds from one year to the next.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of all applicable fiscal reports for sponsored programs and ensures the timely submission thereof to federal, state, and local agencies and other awarding institutions/agencies.
- Computes, prepares, and submits the annual indirect cost rate. Providers information on the rate with applicable state agencies and required. Applies indirect costs.
- Stay abreast of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars and their applicability to grant management related audit, federal regulations, state laws and district polices, and any workshops or seminars on grants or special revenues.
- Partners with the procurement, property management, and business function teams to collect copies of all leases entered into as a lessee or lessor, including embedded leases and subleases. This includes tracking leases with upcoming changes to ensure timely and accurate accounting of updates (i.e. terminations and modifications).
- Enters/loads abstract of lease data for new and modified leases as well as updates into our lease accounting softwares. Generate the lease accounting schedules within the lease accounting software and review for accuracy in accordance with ASC 842 and MSMC policies.
- Initiates lease payments and ensure they are processed completely, accurately and timely.
- Generates and send out rental invoices, follows up on, collect, and allocate payments.
- Carries out billing, collection, and reporting activities according to specific deadlines.
- Monitors customer account details for non-payment, delayed payments, and other irregularities.
- Monitors the cash flow of the company on a daily basis, making periodic analysis, by the use of certain investment skills and business acumen.
- Checks and verify cash transactions; and also investigates and proposes possible resolutions for any discrepancies.
- Prepares reconciliations of bank statements against the GL, and clearing accounts assigned.
- Reconciles and maintains unclaimed property account, including filling of the annual report with the State.
