Entry Level Accounting Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level accounting assistant job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for familiarity with basic bookkeeping, accounts payable or receivable, and spreadsheet tools like Excel or Google Sheets. Completed coursework in accounting or finance, a relevant internship, or volunteer bookkeeping experience all signal readiness. Tailoring your resume to highlight specific software you have used and any hands-on number work, even from class projects, gives you a real edge over generic applicants.
Which companies hire entry level accounting assistants?
Companies hiring entry level accounting assistants right now include Oakland University, Marriott International, and Florida International University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including regional accounting firms, healthcare organizations, logistics companies, and corporate finance departments that bring on junior staff to support their accounting teams.
Are there remote entry level accounting assistant jobs?
Yes, though remote opportunities are more limited at the entry level than for experienced candidates. About 0% of entry level accounting assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements being the most common setup for candidates just starting out who benefit from in-office training and direct team access.
Are these new grad accounting assistant jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior accounting assistant roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, treats internships or co-op terms as qualifying experience, or explicitly invites applications from candidates with relevant coursework or a portfolio of accounting work in place of a long professional history.
Which industries hire the most entry level accounting assistants?
Entry Level accounting assistant roles concentrate in Education, Construction & Real Estate, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at the junior level because they maintain large transaction volumes, regulatory reporting requirements, or rapid headcount growth that creates steady demand for entry level support staff in their finance and accounting functions.
