PROVEN Management is an award-winning government contracting firm specializing in interiors, project management, and logistics. Headquartered in Washington, DC, we support federal government and commercial clients across the country.
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager who can take ownership of the accounting function, spot issues early, and follow them through resolution.
This is not a role for someone who simply processes transactions or waits for accounting issues to be identified. We are looking for someone who understands the numbers, asks questions when something does not look right, investigates discrepancies, and brings both problems and recommended solutions to leadership.
The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, organized, and comfortable working independently in a growing, fast-paced business.
What You’ll Do
- Own general ledger activity and the month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Manage AP, AR, customer billing, collections, and cash application
- Reconcile bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
- Review payroll and related journal entries and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and variances
- Review project revenue, costs, billing, and overall financial performance
- Monitor accounts for unusual activity, discrepancies, and potential errors
- Independently investigate accounting issues and follow them through resolution
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation and audit trails
- Support external audits, tax preparation, 1099 reporting, and other year-end requirements
- Strengthen accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
- Provide leadership with timely and accurate financial information
- Bring significant accounting, cash-flow, compliance, and financial issues to leadership with recommended solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience
- Experience independently managing month-end close and preparing financial statements
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll accounting, accruals, and month-end close
- Experience preparing and analyzing balance sheets and income statements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and variance analysis
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, research root causes, and independently resolve accounting issues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting leadership
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar hands-on accounting position
- Project, job-cost, construction, professional services, or multi-project accounting experience
- Paychex experience
- Government contracting experience
- Experience with Deltek, Unanet, JAMIS, or similar project/government accounting systems
Government Contracting Experience
Government contracting experience is a plus, but is not required.
Experience in any of the following areas is particularly valuable:
- FAR and DCAA requirements
- Service Contract Act (SCA) and Health & Welfare
- Government contract billing
- Labor distribution and timekeeping
- Fringe, overhead, and G&A rates
- Indirect cost allocations
- Incurred cost submissions
- FFP, T&M, or cost-reimbursable contracts
We are willing to teach government contracting requirements to the right accountant who brings strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to take ownership.
Work Location & Travel
This is an Orlando-based hybrid position supporting PROVEN Management’s company-wide accounting operations.
The Accounting Manager will work closely with executive leadership and other team members located in multiple markets.
Periodic company-paid travel to PROVEN Management’s Washington, DC headquarters and other company or project locations will be required based on business needs.
Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means leadership can rely on you to know the condition of the books, recognize when something is wrong, determine why, and take appropriate action.
You do not need to know every aspect of government contracting on day one. You do need to know accounting.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in accurate financial information, follows issues through to completion, improves processes when needed, and wants to become a trusted accounting partner to the business.

Accounting Manager Jobs in Orlando: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a accounting manager job in Orlando?
Focus your search on Orlando's largest hiring sectors: hospitality and resort management, healthcare systems, commercial real estate, and defense contractors near the aerospace corridor. Candidates who combine CPA credentials with industry-specific experience in one of these verticals move faster through hiring processes here. Targeting mid-size regional firms in the downtown core or established employers in Lake Nona gives you access to roles that rarely surface on broad national boards.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Orlando?
Orlando accounting manager roles are posted by Jobot, Versant, and GATORS DOCKSIDE and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Orlando's employer mix skews toward large hospitality conglomerates, regional hospital networks, theme park operators, and a growing cluster of tech and aerospace firms in the east and south corridors.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Orlando?
Yes, though accounting manager roles are less remote-friendly than purely analytical positions since many require oversight of on-site teams and month-end close coordination. About 50% of accounting manager openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements being more common than fully remote. Financial reporting, budgeting, and audit liaison functions tend to be the tasks most frequently handled off-site in Orlando-based roles.
How can I get a accounting manager job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is moving up from a senior accountant role within the hospitality or healthcare sector, where internal promotions to manager are common given the high volume of transactional activity. Regional resort operators and hospital systems regularly hire senior accountants with two to three years of experience and mentor them into management. Earning a CPA license and volunteering for cross-departmental projects that involve closing, forecasting, or audit prep gives you a concrete case for promotion.
Which industries hire the most accounting managers in Orlando?
The sectors hiring the most accounting managers in Orlando are Staffing & Recruiting and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Orlando's economy is anchored by tourism and hospitality, a rapidly expanding healthcare system in Lake Nona, and a growing defense and aerospace presence that together drive steady demand for financial oversight roles.
