Loan Officer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a loan officer in Florida?
Mortgage loan officers in Florida must obtain an NMLS license through the Office of Financial Regulation, which requires completing pre-licensure education, passing the SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator Test, and securing sponsorship from a licensed lender. Commercial and consumer bank loan officers working at federally regulated institutions must register with NMLS but are not required to hold a state mortgage license. A bachelor's degree in finance or business is the standard educational baseline employers expect.
How much do loan officers make in Florida?
Loan officers in Florida earn a median of about $71,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,180 for the lowest 10% to over $133,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire loan officers in Florida?
Employers hiring loan officers in Florida right now include Leadling, Kind Lending, and Paramount Residential Mortgage, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's large retiree population, high real estate transaction volume, and active SBA lending environment make the state a consistent source of demand for origination and commercial lending roles across both national banks and regional mortgage companies.
Which Florida cities have the most loan officer jobs?
Tampa, Orlando, and Miami have the most loan officer openings in Florida. Miami's international real estate market and large commercial banking sector drive demand there, while Tampa and Orlando generate high mortgage origination volume from residential growth, relocation activity, and the large retail banking footprints that major national lenders maintain in both metro areas.
Are there remote loan officer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many financial roles, since a significant portion of the loan origination and underwriting process can be handled digitally. About 65% of loan officer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though client-facing origination roles still tend to favor in-person or hybrid arrangements. Underwriting review, loan processing support, and inside sales origination positions are the most consistently remote-eligible within the field.
How can I get hired as a loan officer in Florida with little or no experience?
Starting as a loan officer assistant or mortgage processor is the most realistic entry point, since both roles are regularly filled without prior origination experience and give you direct exposure to the pipeline and compliance work lenders require. Large Florida retail banks and credit unions like Suncoast Credit Union and Florida Credit Union hire processor trainees and junior loan officer associates. Completing your NMLS pre-licensure education before applying signals commitment and removes one barrier employers commonly raise against candidates without a book of business.
Where can I find and apply to loan officer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to loan officer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Florida employers across mortgage, commercial, and consumer lending. Find the roles that fit your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the positions that match.
