Accounting Manager Jobs in Pittsburgh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a accounting manager job in Pittsburgh?
Focus your search on Pittsburgh's largest hiring sectors: healthcare systems, regional banks and credit unions, steel and manufacturing firms, and the growing tech corridor anchored in East Liberty and Oakland. Candidates who stand out typically hold a CPA or CMA and bring experience closing books or managing audits in a similar industry. Targeting mid-size Pittsburgh companies, where one accounting manager often owns the full function, can also shorten your search considerably.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh accounting manager roles are posted by PNC Financial Services, BNY, and Wabtec and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pittsburgh's mix of major health systems, regional financial institutions, and legacy industrial firms means employer types range from large multisite organizations to privately held manufacturers actively building out their finance teams.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Pittsburgh?
Yes, though partly. Accounting manager work is partially remote-friendly since financial reporting, reconciliations, and team oversight can often be done off-site, but month-end close coordination and audit support often require some in-office presence. About 35% of accounting manager openings tied to Pittsburgh are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote roles most common at larger corporations and tech-adjacent firms headquartered Downtown or in the Strip District.
How can I get a accounting manager job in Pittsburgh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Pittsburgh is moving up from a senior accountant or accounting supervisor role within a local healthcare network, regional bank, or manufacturing company, where internal promotions are common. Pittsburgh's community colleges and universities regularly produce accounting graduates that smaller firms hire directly into supervisory tracks. Earning a CPA while in a staff accountant role at a regional public accounting firm, then transitioning to industry, is a well-worn path here.
Which industries hire the most accounting managers in Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh accounting manager roles concentrate in Science & Research, Banking & Financial Services, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pittsburgh's economic base, anchored by major health systems in Oakland and Shadyside, a deep network of regional financial institutions, and a resurgent manufacturing and energy sector, drives consistent demand for accounting managers who can operate across complex, multi-entity organizations.
