Senior Level Accounting Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level accounting manager job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have owned complex accounting functions end-to-end, not just executed tasks. Demonstrating experience closing books for multi-entity organizations, managing audits independently, and mentoring junior staff puts you ahead. Strong candidates also show fluency in ERP systems and the ability to translate financial data into guidance that informs leadership decisions.
Which companies hire senior level accounting managers?
Companies hiring senior level accounting managers right now include MBE CPAs, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and CBIZ, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers public companies, private equity-backed firms, and large nonprofits that need experienced professionals capable of owning the accounting function with minimal oversight.
Are there remote senior level accounting manager jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by employer size and industry. About 29% of senior level accounting manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, making this one of the more flexible roles at the management level. Companies with distributed finance teams tend to offer the most remote flexibility for candidates who can manage close cycles independently.
What makes an accounting manager role senior level?
Senior level accounting manager roles are defined by ownership rather than execution. Professionals at this stage set accounting policy, lead month-end and year-end close processes without day-to-day guidance, manage and develop a team of accountants, and serve as a primary point of contact for auditors and external stakeholders. The scope is organizational, not transactional.
Which industries hire the most senior level accounting managers?
Senior level accounting manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent demand because their scale, regulatory requirements, and financial complexity require experienced accounting leadership rather than generalist oversight.
