Acquisition Specialist Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a acquisition specialist in Idaho?
Most acquisition specialist roles in Idaho require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or public administration. There is no state-issued license for the role, but federal contracting positions at agencies like Idaho National Laboratory or state purchasing offices expect familiarity with federal acquisition regulations. Earning a Certified Professional Contracts Manager credential through the National Contract Management Association strengthens a candidacy significantly for Idaho's government and defense-adjacent employers.
Which companies hire acquisition specialists in Idaho?
Companies currently hiring acquisition specialists in Idaho include Clenera, Lactalis USA, and Cox Automotive, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Idaho's concentration of federal research facilities and state agency procurement offices means demand is especially consistent in the Boise and Idaho Falls corridors.
Which Idaho cities have the most acquisition specialist jobs?
Boise, Idaho, and Nampa have the most acquisition specialist openings in Idaho. Boise drives the largest share as the state capital and home to major state agency procurement offices and technology companies, while Idaho Falls benefits from its proximity to federal research and energy facilities that maintain large contracting and acquisition teams year-round.
Are there remote acquisition specialist jobs in Idaho?
Yes, and they are fairly common for this desk-based analytical role. About 100% of acquisition specialist openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting how well procurement and contract management functions translate to distributed work. Contract review, vendor sourcing, and purchase order management are the tasks most often performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a acquisition specialist in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a purchasing assistant or contract administrator role, which many Idaho state agencies and larger employers use as a feeder position. The Idaho Division of Purchasing and the Idaho National Laboratory both bring on early-career candidates for support roles that lead into acquisition functions. Completing a Certified Federal Contracts Manager associate-level credential while in a support position signals seriousness to hiring managers and accelerates advancement into a full acquisition specialist title.
