Entry Level Adjunct Faculty Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level adjunct faculty job?
Start by targeting community colleges and continuing education programs, which are most likely to hire candidates at the entry level. A completed master's degree in your subject area is typically the baseline requirement. Demonstrating classroom readiness through teaching assistantships, tutoring experience, or a sample syllabus gives you a concrete edge. Tailoring your cover letter to the specific course or department you want to teach also strengthens your application.
Which companies hire entry level adjunct facultys?
Companies hiring entry level adjunct facultys right now include Ivy Tech Community College, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Virginia Community College System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from community colleges, technical schools, online learning platforms, and universities filling per-course teaching needs each semester.
Are there remote entry level adjunct faculty jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid adjunct faculty roles exist across a range of subjects, particularly in business, technology, and general education. About 8% of entry level adjunct faculty openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with online course sections at community colleges and virtual universities making up a meaningful share of those postings.
Are these new grad adjunct faculty jobs?
Yes, many of these openings are new grad and junior roles aimed at recent graduates who have completed a relevant master's or doctoral program. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of formal teaching experience and accepts internships, teaching assistantships, or a course portfolio in place of a long work history. Look for listings that specify 'no prior teaching required' or name entry level in the description.
Which industries hire the most entry level adjunct facultys?
Entry Level adjunct faculty roles concentrate in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they have consistent per-semester course needs and rely on adjunct instructors to fill subject-specific sections that full-time faculty alone cannot cover.
