The area of specialization is open but the successful candidate will teach introductory courses in the legal studies program, such as Introduction to Law, as well as upper-level electives in the areas of the candidate’s expertise. Preference will be given to candidates prepared to teach in the following areas: civil rights or human rights law, immigration law, labor and employment law, evidence, and criminal & civil procedure. The successful candidate will also advise legal studies majors and minors.
Applicants for this position must have earned a J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school or a Ph.D. in a related discipline. Preference will be given to applicants who are also an admitted member of the bar in the United States and have experience practicing law.
Applicants should have prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Applicants should also have a proven record of teaching excellence and success in working with diverse populations of students.
The successful candidate will have the position of Assistant Professor in Legal Studies. This position is for a full-time 9-month tenure-track faculty position. Generally, the position carries a normal teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Our department is committed to reflecting and supporting the growing diversity of our students and applications from members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.
