The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
About the role
What you'll do
- Review and interpret drawings and contract documents.
- Assist Project Managers and support staff in developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and activities.
- Coordinate with the shop, field teams, and customers to ensure deliverables remain on schedule and meet quality expectations.
- Formulate, organize, and track project requirements and progress as directed by the Project Manager.
- Review and evaluate vendor proposals.
- Set up and maintain project data and documentation in company systems.
- Assist the PM in establishing fabrication schedules, milestones, and objectives.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and monitor performance.
- Provide regular progress and budget updates to the PM.
- Assist with preparing change orders and reviewing drawings.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships through effective communication and follow-up.
- Monitor and manage vendor performance and relationships.
- Prepare, present, and distribute project updates to the PM, internal teams, and customers.
- Conduct site visits to verify progress, address field issues, and ensure alignment with project plans.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- 5 years of general project or construction experience; commercial steel fabrication experience strongly preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience with Tekla preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Change management processes and documentation.
- Business systems and workflows relevant to steel fabrication and erection.
- The value of incremental delivery, project metrics, and progress reporting.
Skill in:
- Process development and project management techniques.
- Maintaining professionalism and building strong interpersonal relationships.
Ability to:
- Read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
- Write clear and concise business correspondence.
- Manage and monitor operations, deliverables, and schedules across multiple teams and locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AISC Manual of Steel Construction is needed to create a conforming shop and erection drawings.
- Construction codes and practices.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with FabSuite and Tekla preferred.
- Tekla Structures, Tekla EPM, and Trimble Connect software is a plus.
