Associate Director Clinical Operations Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a associate director clinical operations in Hawaii?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in nursing, life sciences, or a health-related discipline, followed by several years of hands-on clinical research coordination experience before moving into a managerial role. Hawaii does not require a separate state license specific to clinical operations directors, but registered nurses working in clinical roles must hold an active Hawaii RN license through the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Professional and Vocational Licensing division. Certification through the Society of Clinical Research Associates strengthens candidacy at Hawaii's research-active health systems.
Which companies hire associate director clinical operationss in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring associate director clinical operationss in Hawaii include University of Hawaii system, KPMG, and Central Pacific Bank (HI), per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's federally qualified health centers and the clinical research arms of its major hospital networks are among the most consistent sources of senior clinical operations openings across the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most associate director clinical operations jobs?
Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kahului account for the largest share of associate director clinical operations openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's largest health systems, academic medical centers, and the federally funded research programs at the University of Hawaii, while any listings in smaller areas like Hilo or Kahului typically reflect roles at regional hospitals or community health organizations serving those populations.
Are there remote associate director clinical operations jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're limited, since associate director clinical operations roles often require direct oversight of site staff, vendor relationships, and on-site trial activities that are difficult to manage fully remotely. About 6% of associate director clinical operations openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote arrangements most common for regulatory, data oversight, or sponsor-side operational roles that don't require physical site presence.
How can I get hired as a associate director clinical operations in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a clinical research coordinator role at one of Hawaii's larger health systems, such as Hawaii Pacific Health or The Queen's Medical Center, both of which occasionally hire entry-level coordinators for ongoing research programs. From there, candidates build toward senior coordinator and then clinical trial manager positions before reaching director-level scope. Earning a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator credential through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals adds a competitive edge, and volunteering with University of Hawaii research studies can accelerate that progression meaningfully.
Where can I find and apply to associate director clinical operations jobs in Hawaii?
