How do I get a athletic trainer job in Austin?
The strongest hiring pockets in Austin are university and collegiate athletics programs, the city's growing sports medicine and orthopedic clinic network, and the professional and semi-professional sports organizations based here. Candidates who combine hands-on clinical hours with experience in sports-specific populations, particularly strength and conditioning or return-to-play protocols, stand out. Targeting the medical corridor near UT Austin and the Domain-area employer concentration gives you the widest range of active openings.
Which companies hire athletic trainers in Austin?

Austin's employer mix skews toward university athletic departments, outpatient sports medicine clinics, and a growing number of corporate wellness programs tied to the city's large tech employer base.
Are there remote athletic trainer jobs in Austin?
Remote work is uncommon for athletic trainers because the role is fundamentally hands-on, requiring direct patient or athlete contact for evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. About 0% of athletic trainer openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to cover administrative, telehealth triage, or program coordination duties rather than direct care.
How can I get a athletic trainer job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is through clinical rotation placements or graduate assistant roles at UT Austin or one of the area's community college athletic programs, which regularly bring on candidates still building their hours. Entry-level positions at outpatient sports medicine clinics in the South Lamar and North Loop corridors often accept candidates under supervision. Completing BOC certification before applying and emphasizing any sport-specific population experience, even from volunteer work, gives a clear edge locally.
