Automotive Technician Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a automotive technician in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire does not require a state-issued license to work as an automotive technician, so the hiring path centers on ASE certification and hands-on training. Most candidates complete an automotive technology program at a community college such as NHTI or Manchester Community College, then earn ASE credentials in their area of focus. Dealerships and larger independent shops in New Hampshire typically expect at least one ASE certification before offering a full-time service bay position.
Which companies hire automotive technicians in New Hampshire?
Employers hiring automotive technicians in New Hampshire right now include Pep Boys, Firestone Complete Auto Care, and Zaks Auto, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's mix of franchise dealerships along the Route 101 and Interstate 93 corridors and a strong independent shop culture means openings appear at a wide range of employer sizes year-round.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most automotive technician jobs?
Nashua, Manchester, and Salem consistently post the most automotive technician openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua lead because their dense suburban populations support large dealership groups and multi-bay independent shops, while Concord attracts openings tied to state fleet maintenance contracts and the service centers clustered near its commercial corridors.
Are there remote automotive technician jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're rare. Automotive technician work is fundamentally hands-on, so most roles require physical presence in a service bay. About 0% of automotive technician openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve technical training, warranty documentation review, or manufacturer remote diagnostics support rather than direct vehicle repair.
How can I get hired as a automotive technician in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lube technician or service assistant role at a New Hampshire dealership, which lets you work alongside certified technicians while building documented repair hours. Franchise groups like Tulley Automotive and AutoFair regularly hire entry-level helpers who are enrolled in or have completed a program at NHTI or Manchester Community College. Earning your first ASE Student Certification before applying signals readiness and sets you apart from candidates with no credentials, even if your shop hours are limited.
Where can I find and apply to automotive technician jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to automotive technician jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your certifications and experience level, and apply directly to each position that fits your background.
