DESCRIPTION
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) is looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE) to help build and extend our container registry. ECR is at the heart of most containerized applications and workflows that run on AWS, so it has to be fast, scalable, and secure. As more companies switch to containers to improve their speed of delivery, they look to ECR for easy-to-use tools, and we continue to grow the ecosystem of SDLC tools and security features that our customers use on a daily basis. In addition, we are working on exciting technical problems such as how to dramatically reduce the time it takes to launch a container within AWS.
If you are someone who is passionate about building high quality services, delighting developers, and have a passion for customers and developer relations, this job is for you. You will be joining a team with the charter to make containers the new compute primitives and the first choice when architecting modern applications. You will have the chance to be a part of defining how developers use containers at scale.

Aws Engineer Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a aws engineer in Washington?
Most aws engineers in Washington enter the field through a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or information technology, followed by hands-on cloud experience. Washington employers strongly favor candidates who hold current AWS certifications, particularly the AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer credentials. There is no state-issued license required, but building a portfolio of real AWS projects and earning at least one AWS certification significantly improves hiring prospects in Washington's competitive market.
How much do aws engineers make in Washington?
Aws engineers in Washington earn a median of about $168,070 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $93,610 for the lowest 10% to over $224,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire aws engineers in Washington?
Employers hiring aws engineers in Washington right now include Amazon Web Services, Amazon, and NiCE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's concentration of major technology headquarters and federal contracting firms means sustained, year-round demand across a wide range of aws engineer roles and seniority levels.
Which Washington cities have the most aws engineer jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond have the most aws engineer openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue drive the largest share of demand because Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and a dense cluster of cloud-native startups are headquartered or heavily staffed there, while Redmond contributes significantly through Microsoft's expansive campus and its network of technology vendors and contractors.
Are there remote aws engineer jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. Cloud engineering is inherently well suited to remote work because the infrastructure being managed lives online rather than on-site. About 100% of aws engineer openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly Washington employers have embraced flexible arrangements for this role. Architecture design, infrastructure automation, and cloud security work are the functions most commonly offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a aws engineer in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining the AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Developer certification and building a small portfolio of personal or open-source AWS projects. Washington's large technology employers, including cloud teams at major Seattle-area companies, regularly hire for associate cloud engineer and cloud support specialist roles that do not require years of prior experience. Starting in IT support, systems administration, or a DevOps internship at a Washington technology firm or federal contractor is a practical lateral move that opens the door to aws engineering positions.
Where can I find and apply to aws engineer jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to aws engineer jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across industries and hiring companies. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
