Tips for Your Aws Engineer Job Search
Tailor your resume to certifications
List your AWS certifications prominently at the top of your resume, including the certification tier and year earned. Recruiters scanning for cloud engineers often filter by Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or SysOps Administrator credentials before reading anything else.
Quantify infrastructure you have owned
Replace vague phrases like 'managed cloud resources' with specifics: the number of microservices you deployed, the frequency of release cycles you supported, or the uptime improvements your automation delivered. Hiring managers want evidence of scope, not just familiarity.
Filter openings by your AWS specialty
Job titles for this role vary widely, from Cloud Engineer to Platform Engineer to Infrastructure Engineer. Search each variant separately so you don't miss openings that match your actual day-to-day work in EC2, Lambda, EKS, or RDS.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists aws engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for architecture whiteboard rounds
Most aws engineer interviews include a live design session where you walk through a scalable, fault-tolerant architecture on a whiteboard or shared doc. Practice explaining your VPC layout choices, load balancing approach, and multi-region failover strategy out loud before your interview.
Negotiate using your certification level
AWS certifications, particularly at the Professional and Specialty tiers, are a concrete signal of expertise you can reference when countering an offer. Frame your ask around the market rate for your certification tier and the managed service complexity you handle daily.
Aws Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most aws engineers?
Amazon Web Services, Amazon, and JPMorganChase are hiring the most aws engineers right now, with openings concentrated in Washington, Virginia, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is particularly strong at companies running large-scale cloud migrations or expanding their managed services offerings.
How many aws engineer jobs are remote?
About 72% of aws engineer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible roles in the technology sector. Cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation positions tend to have the highest share of fully remote arrangements, while roles requiring on-site data center access are more likely to require in-person presence.
How do you become a aws engineer?
Start by building foundational cloud skills through AWS's own training paths, then pursue an entry-level certification such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate. Supplement that with hands-on practice using a personal AWS account to deploy real workloads, write infrastructure-as-code, and configure networking and security controls. A portfolio of projects demonstrating those skills, combined with at least one recognized certification, is the standard entry point employers expect.
Can you get hired as a aws engineer without much experience?
Yes, entry-level aws engineer roles exist, but employers expect demonstrated hands-on ability even when professional experience is limited. Build that evidence by completing AWS training modules, earning an associate-level certification, and deploying a multi-tier application or serverless project in your own AWS account. Document what you built, what broke, and how you fixed it, then publish that work publicly so hiring managers can review your problem-solving approach directly.
What does the aws engineer interview process look like?
Most aws engineer interview processes include an initial recruiter screen focused on your background and certifications, followed by a technical phone screen covering core AWS services and networking concepts. Subsequent rounds typically involve a live architecture design session where you diagram a scalable cloud solution and explain your trade-offs, plus behavioral interviews assessing how you handle incidents or cross-team collaboration. Some employers also assign a take-home infrastructure task or a short coding exercise in Python or Bash.
Where can I find and apply to aws engineer jobs?
You can find and apply to aws engineer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search for roles that match your certification level and AWS specialty, then apply directly to each listing that fits your background and target location or remote preference.
