Aws Engineer Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a aws engineer in Massachusetts?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an aws engineer in Massachusetts. The standard path begins with a degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, followed by hands-on cloud experience and an AWS certification such as the AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Massachusetts employers, particularly in the Boston financial and life sciences corridors, consistently prioritize candidates who have passed AWS associate or professional-level exams alongside demonstrated infrastructure project experience.
How much do aws engineers make in Massachusetts?
Aws engineers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $155,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $98,730 for the lowest 10% to over $211,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire aws engineers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring aws engineers in Massachusetts right now include Amazon Web Services, City IT, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of financial services firms, defense contractors, and biotech companies means aws engineer roles here tend to require cloud security and compliance experience alongside core infrastructure skills.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most aws engineer jobs?
Boston, Devens, and Lowell have the most aws engineer openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge drive the majority of demand through their dense clusters of financial institutions, research hospitals, and software companies, while Burlington and Waltham contribute through the Route 128 technology corridor, where mid-size and enterprise technology firms maintain large cloud engineering teams.
Are there remote aws engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of aws engineer openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that most aws engineering work is performed through cloud consoles and development tools rather than on-site hardware. Roles focused on architecture, automation, and platform engineering are the most consistently offered as fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a aws engineer in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining an AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification and applying for junior cloud engineer, cloud support engineer, or DevOps associate roles. Massachusetts employers such as Liberty Mutual and major defense contractors running cloud modernization programs regularly hire entry-level candidates into rotational technology programs. Building a portfolio of personal AWS projects and contributing to open-source infrastructure repositories strengthens any application from a candidate without formal industry experience.
