Behavioral Health Case Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavioral health case manager in New York?
Most behavioral health case manager roles in New York require at minimum a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a closely related field, and many employers prefer a master's degree. Candidates pursuing clinical responsibilities typically obtain licensure through the New York State Education Department, most commonly the LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC. Those focused on substance use services may need a CASAC issued by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports.
Which companies hire behavioral health case managers in New York?
Employers hiring behavioral health case managers in New York right now include BestSelf Behavioral Health, Upstate Cerebral Palsy, and Hamilton Madison House, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's large integrated health systems, state-contracted nonprofits, and Medicaid managed care plans are among the most consistent sources of full-time openings across the state.
Which New York cities have the most behavioral health case manager jobs?
The cities with the most behavioral health case manager openings in New York are Buffalo, Bronx, and Utica. New York City drives the largest share of demand given its scale of hospital systems, community mental health clinics, and managed care organizations, while Buffalo and Albany reflect significant state agency presence and regional nonprofit networks that hire steadily throughout the year.
Are there remote behavioral health case manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're limited, since behavioral health case management typically involves in-person client contact, field visits, and coordination with community providers. About 0% of behavioral health case manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to focus on telephonic care coordination or utilization management roles within managed care organizations rather than direct community-based services.
How can I get hired as a behavioral health case manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a bachelor's-level position at a community mental health agency or nonprofit human services organization under supervision toward licensure. Large New York employers including NYC Health + Hospitals and state Office of Mental Health facilities regularly hire candidates without prior case management experience for care coordinator or health home worker roles. A completed field placement at a New York State-licensed behavioral health program, or lateral experience as a peer specialist or crisis counselor, meaningfully strengthens an application at the entry level.
Where can I find and apply to behavioral health case manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to behavioral health case manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
