Tips for Your Billing Manager Job Search
Quantify AR and collections outcomes
Hiring managers want to see the impact you had on days sales outstanding, collection rates, or write-off reductions. Pull actual metrics from your past roles and lead with those numbers on your resume before listing duties.
Tailor your resume to the billing system listed
Postings in healthcare often require Epic or Meditech experience, while corporate finance roles may specify QuickBooks, SAP, or NetSuite. Match the exact software name from the job description in your resume so you clear automated screening.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists billing manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings by billing cycle complexity
Some roles manage simple monthly invoicing, others handle multi-payer claims, government contracts, or high-volume transactional billing. Read job descriptions for cycle volume and payer mix, then highlight the most relevant experience you have for that complexity.
Prepare for a technical scenario in interviews
Expect at least one question about resolving a disputed invoice, reducing an aging AR bucket, or handling a billing audit. Walk through your actual process step by step, including how you coordinated with other departments to resolve the issue.
Negotiate with total compensation in mind
Billing manager offers often include performance bonuses tied to collection targets. Ask specifically how the bonus structure is calculated and what percentage of incumbents actually hit the target, so you can assess the realistic value of the offer.
Billing Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most billing managers?
The companies hiring the most billing managers right now include HDR, Walmart, and Billings Clinic, with the largest share of openings in Montana, Texas, and California, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Healthcare systems and financial services firms consistently post the highest volume of billing manager roles.
How many billing manager jobs are remote?
About 28% of billing manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more flexible management roles in finance and operations. Revenue cycle management, insurance billing, and corporate accounts receivable positions tend to have the highest share of remote and hybrid arrangements compared to on-site facility billing roles.
How do you become a billing manager?
Start in a billing specialist, billing coordinator, or accounts receivable role to build hands-on experience with invoicing systems, collections, and payer processes. Move into a senior billing or team lead position to gain supervisory experience. Earning a credential like the Certified Professional Biller designation strengthens your candidacy for manager-level roles, particularly in healthcare and insurance.
Can you get a billing manager job with little experience?
Getting hired as a billing manager with limited experience is more realistic in smaller organizations, where the role often covers both hands-on billing work and team oversight. Starting as a billing specialist and quickly taking on training or quality review responsibilities signals readiness for a manager role. Highlighting specific software proficiency and any measurable improvements to billing accuracy or collection timelines helps close the experience gap on your resume.
What does the billing manager interview process look like?
The billing manager interview process typically includes a phone screen with HR focused on your background and software experience, followed by a panel or one-on-one interview with a finance or operations director. Expect scenario-based questions about resolving disputed invoices, managing a backlog, or handling a billing audit. Some employers include a short technical exercise or ask you to walk through a sample aging report.
Where can I find and apply to billing manager jobs?
You can find and apply to billing manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and industry, then apply directly to each one that fits.
