INTRODUCTION
The world of digital assets is accelerating in speed, magnitude, and complexity, opening the door to new ways for leveraging the blockchain. Fireblocks’ platform and network provide the simplest and most secure way for companies to work with digital assets and it trusted by some of the largest financial institutions, banks, globally-recognized brands, and Web3 companies in the world, including BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, Revolut, and thousands more.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Wallet Flows team is leading a strategic transformation of Fireblocks' core infrastructure. We're methodically redesigning and rewriting major system components to create next-generation architecture that enhances security, scalability, and performance.
Our team blends industry veterans and rising talent, united by excellence and a results-driven mindset. We value seasoned expertise alongside fresh perspectives, fostering an environment where pragmatic solutions and innovation thrive together.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong blockchain foundation. In this role, you will work across the entire stack from user-facing interfaces to backend services and on-chain integrations to build and evolve the systems that power institutional digital asset operations.
You will serve as a technical bridge between raw blockchain capabilities and the polished wallet experiences delivered to customers. This means diving into protocol-level details one day and refining a transaction workflow UI the next. Your blockchain expertise will directly inform how we design, build, and ship features that handle billions in transaction volume.
- Design and build end-to-end features across frontend, backend, and blockchain layers that power Fireblocks' wallet infrastructure
- Architect and deliver mission-critical components while maintaining 24/7 operations with zero disruption to live transaction volume
- Research and integrate blockchain technologies including Layer 2 solutions, cross-chain bridges, staking protocols, and DeFi integrations into the Fireblocks platform
- Develop intuitive, responsive interfaces that surface complex blockchain operations in a clear and actionable way for institutional users
- Collaborate with blockchain foundations, vendors, builders, and customers to understand protocol design, tooling, and integration requirements
- Balance pragmatism with vision - make smart trade-offs to deliver incremental value while steadily advancing toward next-generation architecture goals
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to define technical requirements and deliver cohesive solutions
- Mentor and guide other engineers on blockchain technologies, full stack patterns, and best practices
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years of full stack development experience with modern frontend frameworks (TypeScript) and backend services (Go, or Python)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in the blockchain ecosystem — working with protocols, on-chain data, smart contracts, or wallet infrastructure
- Knowledge of consensus mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and modern frontend patterns
- Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools for programming with experience in vibe coding
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and fast-paced environments
- A curious mind, willing to learn, including new coding languages and tech stacks.
PREFERRED
- Experience building blockchain solutions for enterprise or institutional use cases
- Understanding of security best practices for smart contracts and blockchain systems
- Experience with MPC, multi-signature wallets, or other advanced cryptographic techniques
- Experience with institutional DeFi, staking protocols, or custody solutions
- Experience modernizing and transforming mission-critical production systems with minimal disruption
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
SUCCESS CRITERIA & IMPACT
- You deliver features end-to-end — from UI to on-chain integration — with high quality and minimal iteration
- Your blockchain expertise is consistently leveraged as a foundation for architectural and product decisions
- You are considered a subject matter expert by internal engineering teams across both application and protocol layers
- Consistent contribution to the Fireblocks platform by pushing impactful design and code to production

Blockchain Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a blockchain engineer in New York?
Blockchain engineering has no state-issued license in New York, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most New York employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent experience. Building a portfolio of deployed smart contracts or open-source contributions on GitHub is the most direct way to signal readiness. Industry certifications from bodies like the Blockchain Council or Certified Ethereum Developer programs are increasingly recognized by New York hiring teams.
How much do blockchain engineers make in New York?
Blockchain engineers in New York earn a median of about $116,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,740 for the lowest 10% to over $203,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire blockchain engineers in New York?
Employers hiring blockchain engineers in New York right now include EY, Fireblocks, and Citi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of global financial institutions and fintech startups means demand comes from both legacy banks building private ledger systems and early-stage companies shipping consumer-facing decentralized applications.
Which New York cities have the most blockchain engineer jobs?
New York and New York City account for the largest share of blockchain engineer openings in New York. Manhattan dominates because of its density of financial services firms, crypto-native companies, and enterprise technology consultancies, while Brooklyn's growing tech corridor and Jersey City's proximity to Wall Street back-office operations bring additional volume to the surrounding metro.
Are there remote blockchain engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most engineering fields. About 50% of blockchain engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how thoroughly this work is done through code repositories, testnets, and asynchronous collaboration. Roles focused on smart contract development and protocol research are the most consistently remote, while on-site expectations tend to apply to positions embedded within larger financial institution teams.
How can I get hired as a blockchain engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior developer role focused on Web3 or decentralized application work, often reachable from a background in general software development or backend engineering. Large New York employers like Consensys and IBM run associate and new-graduate programs that accept candidates with strong fundamentals and project portfolios. Contributing to open-source Ethereum or Hyperledger projects, completing a recognized blockchain developer certification, and targeting fintech startups in Manhattan or Brooklyn that staff lean engineering teams are all concrete starting points.
Where can I find and apply to blockchain engineer jobs in New York?
