DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Technical Business Developer, you will serve as a key individual contributor and subject matter expert for capital equipment sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management. You will own the end-to-end procurement lifecycle - from supplier identification and RFQ execution through contract award and delivery - for high-value equipment, automation systems, tooling, and more. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, you will be a technical procurement authority for the organization. You will partner closely with partner teams across the organization to ensure material readiness and targets are met. You will help establish standards for how procurement operates and contribute to the development of sourcing managers and buyers through thought leadership and process design.

Own end-to-end capital equipment sourcing across multiple advanced product portfolios, including supplier identification, market analysis, RFQ/RFP execution, total cost of ownership modeling, and award decisions across equipment, automation systems, tooling, and infrastructure. Develop and implement sourcing approaches that optimize cost efficiency while advancing technical capabilities.
-
Lead complex negotiations with OEMs, equipment manufacturers, and service providers - structuring commercial agreements covering pricing, payment terms, warranties, SLAs, and long-lead-time components, and managing the full contract lifecycle including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution.
-
Develop sourcing frameworks, standard operating procedures, and operating mechanisms that scale with the organization - supporting and mentoring sourcing managers and buyers through technical guidance.
-
Establish and manage supplier performance programs, including scorecards, SLAs, and regular business reviews. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through dual-sourcing strategies, should-cost models, and contingency planning.
-
Manage budgets with cost controls, variance tracking, and change management governance. Support material planning, inventory strategy, and spare parts availability. Drive cost optimization initiatives with demonstrated results.

Align equipment procurement timelines with site milestones and schedules in close partnership with cross-functional teams across the organization. Serve as a procurement subject matter expert in cross-functional planning forums. Influence leadership on strategic direction and investment decisions related to the supply chain.

Business Developer Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business developer job in Austin?
Focus your search on Austin's enterprise software, healthtech, and clean energy sectors, where business developer roles are most active. The Domain and Downtown districts concentrate the most opportunities, but East Austin's startup corridor is growing fast. Candidates who can show pipeline ownership, consultative selling experience, and familiarity with SaaS or recurring-revenue models stand out in Austin's market.
Which companies hire business developers in Austin?
Companies currently hiring business developers in Austin include Amazon, Visa, and Tesla, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Austin's employer mix ranges from large enterprise software firms and Fortune 500 tech divisions to fast-growing startups and regional energy companies, giving business developers a wide range of deal sizes and sales cycles to work with.
Are there remote business developer jobs in Austin?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role since business development often requires in-person relationship-building, client meetings, and territory work. About 18% of business developer openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with remote options most common in SaaS and enterprise software roles where the full sales cycle runs digitally.
How can I get a business developer job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is through a sales development representative or account coordinator role at a SaaS or tech startup, where companies regularly hire candidates without prior business development titles. Austin accelerators and incubators also hire junior business development associates who support partnership and revenue teams. Demonstrating outbound prospecting skills, CRM fluency, and any experience closing small deals gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge locally.
Which industries hire the most business developers in Austin?
Most business developer openings in Austin sit in Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Retail, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Austin's concentration of enterprise software headquarters, expanding healthtech firms, and a growing clean energy sector drives consistent demand for business developers who can open new accounts and manage strategic partnerships.
