Business Development Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development job in Columbus?
Columbus rewards candidates who can point to specific vertical experience in the sectors driving local growth: health tech, insurance and financial services, and B2B software. Roles concentrate Downtown, in the Arena District, and around Polaris Parkway in the north suburbs. A demonstrated ability to build pipeline in one of those verticals, plus familiarity with Columbus's mid-market buyer landscape, gives you a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire business developments in Columbus?
Columbus business development roles are posted by ECAM, Hibu, and Vaco and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The hiring base is a mix of large-market employers in insurance and retail corporate headquarters alongside a growing cluster of venture-backed technology companies expanding their sales teams locally.
Are there remote business development jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role: outbound and enterprise-facing positions tend to require in-person relationship building, while partnership management and strategic accounts work is more often remote-eligible. About 60% of business development openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how common hybrid arrangements have become across the city's technology and financial services employers. Fully remote postings are most common in SaaS and health tech.
How can I get a business development job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through a sales development representative or inside sales role at one of the city's many mid-market software or health tech companies, where structured training is common and promotion to business development is a defined track. Employers in the Easton and Polaris corridors frequently hire for these feeder roles. Internships at Columbus-area corporate headquarters in retail and insurance also provide direct exposure to business development workflows.
Which industries hire the most business developments in Columbus?
Columbus business development roles concentrate in Staffing & Recruiting, Manufacturing, and Medical Devices, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's position as a major insurance and financial services headquarters city, combined with its expanding technology and healthcare innovation ecosystem, makes those sectors the most consistent sources of business development hiring throughout the year.
