How do you become a business intelligence analyst in North Carolina?
Business intelligence analyst roles in North Carolina do not require a state-issued license or registration. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in analytics, information systems, computer science, or a quantitative field, though strong candidates from adjacent disciplines are regularly hired. Building a portfolio of SQL queries, dashboard projects, and documented business impact in tools like Power BI or Tableau is the most direct way to demonstrate readiness to North Carolina hiring managers.
How much do business intelligence analysts make in North Carolina?
Business intelligence analysts in North Carolina earn a median of about $119,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,970 for the lowest 10% to over $172,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence analysts in North Carolina?
Employers hiring business intelligence analysts in North Carolina right now include Inmar, Xylem, and Truist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. North Carolina's concentration of major financial institutions in Charlotte and research-driven technology and healthcare companies in the Research Triangle creates steady, year-round demand for BI talent at multiple seniority levels.
Which North Carolina cities have the most business intelligence analyst jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and North Carolina have the most business intelligence analyst openings in North Carolina. Charlotte drives volume through its dense cluster of financial services headquarters and fintech operations, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from the Research Triangle's concentration of technology firms, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, and major research universities that run large internal analytics functions.

The parts of the role most commonly performed remotely are dashboard development, data modeling, and report delivery, while stakeholder discovery and strategy sessions are where in-person or hybrid arrangements tend to appear.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence analyst in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior data analyst or reporting analyst role, which major North Carolina employers in banking, healthcare, and technology use as structured entry points for new graduates. Companies like Bank of America and UNC Health run analyst development programs that accept candidates without direct BI experience. A portfolio of self-built Tableau or Power BI dashboards, paired with a Microsoft Power BI or Google Data Analytics certificate, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to these programs.
