Job Summary

Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, operating theaters, corridors, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
• Safely manage chemical agents used for cleaning and sanitation, following OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to prevent exposure or accidents.
• Conduct manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy cleaning equipment or supplies while practicing safe lifting techniques to prevent injury.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, mopping, buffing, or polishing using specialized floor care equipment.
• Follow strict environmental services protocols to ensure all areas meet sanitation standards for infection prevention and control.
• Use janitorial tools and cleaning equipment effectively while adhering to safety procedures; report any malfunctioning equipment for maintenance.
• Support healthcare infection prevention efforts by applying proper sanitation procedures aligned with healthcare facility policies.
• Document cleaning activities accurately in logs or reports as required by hospital or healthcare facility regulations.
• Respond promptly to special cleaning requests or emergency spill situations to maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping, custodial work, or commercial cleaning environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safety protocols, and environmental services standards.
• Ability to handle chemical agents safely while understanding proper storage and disposal procedures.
• Experience with laundry operations within a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with hospital or healthcare infection prevention practices is highly desirable.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely; capable of standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills; committed to maintaining high sanitation standards.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors when needed.
• Certification in environmental services or janitorial experience in healthcare settings is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safety protocol adherence including safe lifting practices and use of cleaning equipment.
