Business Systems Analyst Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business systems analyst in Pennsylvania?
Most business systems analyst roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or business administration. There is no state-issued license for this role in Pennsylvania. Employers in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh typically expect candidates to have hands-on experience with requirements documentation and systems analysis, and many value a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or entry-level ECBA credential from the International Institute of Business Analysis as a strong differentiator.
How much do business systems analysts make in Pennsylvania?
Business systems analysts in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $98,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,910 for the lowest 10% to over $133,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business systems analysts in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring business systems analysts in Pennsylvania right now include Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Asplundh Tree Expert, and PNC Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large health systems, financial institutions, and state government agencies means demand for business systems analysts is broad and relatively consistent throughout the year.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most business systems analyst jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg have the highest concentration of business systems analyst openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to its dense cluster of financial services firms, insurance carriers, and major health systems, while Pittsburgh's technology and healthcare sectors drive strong demand there, and Harrisburg generates steady openings tied to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania IT modernization programs and state agency work.
Are there remote business systems analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business systems analysis is fundamentally desk and documentation work that translates well to distributed teams. About 70% of business systems analyst openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted toward flexible work arrangements since the pandemic. Requirements gathering, process mapping, and sprint ceremonies are the parts of the role most commonly conducted fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a business systems analyst in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a junior or associate business analyst role at a large Pennsylvania employer that runs structured rotational or new-graduate programs, such as the technology associate tracks offered by major Philadelphia-area insurers and financial institutions. Adjacent roles like data analyst, business operations coordinator, or IT help desk at Pennsylvania health systems such as UPMC or Jefferson Health are common lateral moves into the function. Completing an entry-level business analysis certification and building a portfolio of process flow diagrams or user stories significantly strengthens applications with little formal experience.
Where can I find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly from the listings.
