Tips for Your Cardiac Catheterization Technologist Job Search
Tailor your resume to the cath lab
List the specific procedures you've assisted with, such as coronary angiography, stent placement, or EP studies. Hiring managers scan for procedure volume and equipment familiarity, so name the fluoroscopy systems and hemodynamic monitoring platforms you've operated.
Lead with your RCIS or RCES credential
Many cardiac catheterization technologist postings list RCIS or RCES certification as preferred or required. Place your credential directly after your name at the top of your resume so recruiters don't have to search for it buried in a credentials section.
Target postings by lab type and case mix
A high-volume trauma center cath lab differs significantly from a freestanding cardiac surgery center. Read each posting for case mix clues like primary PCI call coverage or structural heart programs, and customize your cover letter to match the lab's stated focus.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists cardiac catheterization technologist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a practical skills interview
Many cath labs include a competency check or scenario walkthrough alongside the standard interview. Refresh your sterile technique protocols, contrast media management steps, and emergency response procedures for radiation events or contrast reactions before you walk in.
Negotiate call requirements before accepting
On-call and weekend coverage varies widely between facilities and affects quality of life significantly. Ask directly about call frequency, turnaround time, and whether call pay is a flat rate or hourly, so you can compare offers on equal terms.
Cardiac Catheterization Technologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most cardiac catheterization technologists?
The companies hiring the most cardiac catheterization technologists right now include OSF HealthCare, Geisinger, and Geisinger Health Plan, with the largest share of openings in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and New Hampshire, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Health systems with dedicated cardiac surgery programs and high-volume interventional cardiology departments tend to post the most consistently throughout the year.
How many cardiac catheterization technologist jobs are remote?
About 0% of cardiac catheterization technologist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the largely hands-on nature of cath lab work. Administrative, quality assurance, and clinical education roles within cardiovascular departments are the sub-areas most likely to offer any remote or hybrid flexibility.
How do you become a cardiac catheterization technologist?
You typically complete an accredited cardiovascular technology or radiologic technology program, then pursue clinical rotations in an interventional cath lab setting. After graduation, earning your RCIS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International demonstrates competency to employers. Most facilities also require current BLS and ACLS certification before your first shift in the lab.
Can you get hired as a cardiac catheterization technologist with little experience?
Yes, some hospitals hire new graduates into junior or technologist-trainee roles and provide structured cath lab orientation. Highlighting clinical rotation hours on your resume, specifying the procedures you observed or assisted with, and obtaining your RCIS credential early all strengthen an entry-level application considerably. Smaller community hospitals often have more flexibility to train candidates than large academic centers.
What does the cardiac catheterization technologist interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a phone screen from HR, followed by an in-person or video interview with the cath lab manager and a lead technologist. Expect scenario-based questions about sterile field management, emergency response, and equipment troubleshooting. Some facilities add a brief skills or competency walkthrough, and offers commonly include a background check and drug screen before your start date.
Where can I find and apply to cardiac catheterization technologist jobs?
You can find and apply to cardiac catheterization technologist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to each one that fits.
