Cardiologist Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cardiologist in Wisconsin?
To practice as a cardiologist in Wisconsin, you must hold an active Wisconsin Medical License issued by the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board, which requires completing medical school, an internal medicine residency, and a cardiology fellowship accredited by the ACGME. After training, most Wisconsin health systems also require board certification or active board eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine before granting hospital privileges.
How much do cardiologists make in Wisconsin?
Cardiologists in Wisconsin earn a median of about $636,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $94,340 for the lowest 10% to over $666,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cardiologists in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin cardiologist roles are posted by SSM Health, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Ascension and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Wisconsin's largest hiring activity comes from integrated health systems that operate both hospital-based and outpatient cardiology programs throughout the state.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most cardiologist jobs?
Madison, Milwaukee, and Fond du Lac account for the most cardiologist openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee leads because of its dense concentration of academic medical centers and large integrated health systems, while Madison's presence of UW Health and its affiliated clinics drives strong hiring there, and Green Bay serves as a regional referral hub for northeastern Wisconsin communities.
Are there remote cardiologist jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of cardiologist openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, given that most cardiology work requires hands-on patient care, procedural skills, and on-site imaging interpretation. The portions of the role most likely to be conducted remotely are telehealth consultations and follow-up visits for stable chronic heart disease patients.
How can I get hired as a cardiologist in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to fellowship-to-employment pipeline programs at Wisconsin's major academic systems, particularly UW Health and Froedtert Health, which regularly hire graduating cardiology fellows into attending or junior staff roles. Candidates completing their fellowship outside Wisconsin should target positions listed as general cardiology or non-invasive cardiology, which carry lower procedural volume expectations. An active Wisconsin Medical License and ACLS certification in hand before applying gives a strong credential advantage over candidates still pending licensure.
Where can I find and apply to cardiologist jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to cardiologist jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wisconsin openings across health systems, specialty practices, and hospital-employed positions. Search the listings for roles that match your specialty and experience level and apply directly to the ones that fit.
