Job Summary
As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you’ll provide respectful, hands-on support that helps clients maintain comfort, safety, and independence at home or in a care setting. You’ll assist with daily routines, observe changes in well-being, and communicate clearly with clients and care teams. Your impact: By following care plans and promptly sharing observations, you help clients and their families make informed decisions and support continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, mobility, transfers, and personal transportation.
- Prepare meals, cook as needed, and complete light cleaning to support a safe, comfortable environment.
- Monitor clients, observe and report changes, and assist with vital signs and medication administration when authorized and trained.
- Provide direct support and compassionate care for older adults and people with disabilities, including individuals with autism, developmental or intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, dementia, or Alzheimer’s.
- Respect privacy, client communication preferences, care plans, and residents’ rights; follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
Skills
- Patient care, caregiving, patient observation, patient monitoring, and patient personal care assistance.
- Experience in home care, home health, home and community care, group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice, long-term care, senior care, memory care, dementia care, geriatrics, or nursing is helpful.
- Knowledge of meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, manual handling, heavy lifting, patient transfer methods, and Hoyer lifts.
- First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills; ability to support medication administration and vital-sign checks as permitted by training and care plans.
- Clear client communication and a respectful, dependable approach to direct support.
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
