Center Director Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a center director job in Houston?
The strongest path into a center director role in Houston runs through the city's large early childhood education networks, behavioral health systems, and nonprofit human services organizations, which together generate the bulk of local openings. Candidates who combine a relevant bachelor's degree with hands-on supervisory experience in a Houston-area program stand out. Familiarity with Texas Head Start affiliates and the density of community-based nonprofits in the Third Ward and Midtown gives local applicants a real edge.
Which companies hire center directors in Houston?
Employers hiring center directors in Houston right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, ChenMed, and ENGIE North America, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring pool is shaped by its large hospital systems, federally funded early education programs, and a dense cluster of nonprofit social service agencies tied to Harris County.
Are there remote center director jobs in Houston?
Yes, though with an important qualifier: center director roles that involve direct facility oversight are almost always on-site by nature. About 17% of center director openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in program coordination, training, or administrative oversight rather than day-to-day facility management. Houston's healthcare and workforce development sectors produce the most hybrid-eligible openings in this title.
How can I get a center director job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is moving up from a lead teacher, program coordinator, or assistant director role within a large early childhood network or nonprofit agency. Houston organizations like Harris County Precinct programs and United Way-affiliated nonprofits regularly hire entry-level supervisors and promote internally. Building experience through AmeriCorps placements or Head Start classrooms in the city is a concrete first step that local hiring managers recognize and value.
Which industries hire the most center directors in Houston?
Most center director openings in Houston sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's scale as a regional medical hub, combined with its large federally funded early education infrastructure and a robust nonprofit sector serving Harris County, keeps demand for this role consistently high across those fields.
