Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Sous Chef for Dining Services.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Oversees food production, ensuring that all food is produced in a timely manner to meet needs, and is presented in an attractive and appealing style.
- Oversees kitchen personnel in the production of hot and cold food, in the cleaning of food preparation areas, and in the control of food costs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

- High school/vocational school education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and a minimum of four years of high volume food service experience.

Certifications/Licenses

- ServSafe certification or certification within one year of employment.
- Ability to pass the Food Handler’s Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Good communication skills.
- Computer literacy in industry standard software.
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production worksheets.

Preferred Qualifications

- A degree in culinary arts.

Equipment Utilized

- Industrial kitchen equipment.
- FoodPro proprietary food production, planning and control system.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

- Shift/Schedule: TBD.

- Candidates must pass a written test during the first-round interview. During the second round interview, candidates will be expected to participate in a practical to demonstrate their culinary skills.
