Summary
The Lab Chemist III is responsible for performing advanced qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses in a laboratory setting to support quality control, compliance, and operational goals. This role works with a variety of chemical substances, instruments, and testing methods while maintaining strict adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures. This position also plays a key role in training and mentoring entry-level laboratory staff.
Pay: $25 - $32 per hour
Monday - Friday
This position is Non-exempt, so it would be a full-time hourly role with potential for overtime hours/pay. 40 hours per week with optional overtime as desired.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Minimum: 2 years of college or specialized training in Chemistry or a related field
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline
- Experience: 5–7 years in a laboratory setting
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Certifications (Preferred):
- 24- or 40-hour OSHA training with annual updates
- DOT training
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of chemistry, math, and laboratory testing methods
- Solid problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Experience operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced chemical analysis of samples in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
- Complete all associated documentation (calibration logs, run logs, reports) accurately and in a timely manner
- Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment in compliance with the chemical hygiene plan
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste generated during laboratory processes
- Review and maintain knowledge of laboratory SOPs and achieve satisfactory scores on required assessments
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment; communicate inventory and supply needs
- Train and mentor new or junior laboratory personnel
- Follow all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs
