Civil Project Manager Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a civil project manager job in Charlotte?
Focus your search on Charlotte's infrastructure, transportation, and land development sectors, where hiring is most active. Firms working on CDOT projects, CATS transit expansion, and private mixed-use development in South End and Midtown tend to hire consistently. Candidates with experience in municipal permitting, stormwater management, or NCDOT coordination have a clear edge in this market. Networking through local chapters of ASCE or ACEC Carolina also opens doors that job boards alone do not.
Which companies hire civil project managers in Charlotte?
Charlotte civil project manager roles are posted by Bolton & Menk, Bolton & Menk, and S&ME and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The hiring mix includes national engineering firms with Charlotte offices, regional civil consultancies, and municipal agencies managing the city's rapid infrastructure build-out.
Are there remote civil project manager jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, but only partially. Civil project management is largely site-dependent, so fully remote roles are rare compared to desk-based fields. About 38% of civil project manager openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a market where some firms allow remote work for planning, reporting, and client coordination while requiring on-site presence during construction phases.
How can I get a civil project manager job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charlotte is starting as a project engineer or field engineer with a civil engineering or construction management firm working on city infrastructure contracts. Charlotte's ongoing CATS Blue Line extensions and CDOT road improvement programs create consistent junior-level openings with firms that mentor early-career hires into PM roles. Internships with Mecklenburg County or the Charlotte Department of Transportation also provide direct exposure that local employers value when reviewing candidates for their first PM position.
Which industries hire the most civil project managers in Charlotte?
Most civil project manager openings in Charlotte sit in Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's sustained population growth, light rail expansion, and commercial real estate activity in areas like South End and Ballantyne continue to drive demand across each of those sectors.
