Yes, and more than most fields. About 94% of client accounting manager openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of this work centers on financial reporting, client communication, and software-based analysis rather than on-site tasks. The most remote-friendly functions tend to be monthly close support and management reporting, while client onboarding and relationship reviews more often require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a client accounting manager in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a staff accountant or accounting associate at a D.C.-area public accounting firm or government contractor, where rotational programs at firms like Deloitte or Grant Thornton give associates exposure to client-facing work early. Pursuing CPA licensure through the D.C. Board of Accountancy while in a junior role accelerates promotion, and experience with federal cost accounting standards or nonprofit fund accounting gives candidates a distinct edge given how many D.C. clients operate in those sectors.
