Position Overview
The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking candidates for a full-time, faculty position housed on the Lawrence, Kansas campus. The position is a 12-month full-time, clinical track (non-tenure) position at the assistant or associate level. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, assessment, and course coordination in the didactic and pharmacy skills curriculum and will coordinate the Pharmacy School summer camp on the Lawrence campus. Travel between the Lawrence, Wichita and Med Center campuses may be required occasionally.
The Department invites applications from practitioners in all areas of pharmacy. Preferred candidates will have broad experiences in advanced pharmacy practice settings and will have teaching experience in didactic (classroom, continuing education programs), active-learning (laboratory), or experiential (preceptorship) settings. The Department of Pharmacy Practice expects its faculty to contribute to the mission and goals of the Department and School in each of the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and expertise of the individual.
This position is a union covered position within the collective bargaining unit represented by United Academics of Kansas University (UAKU). UAKU is the exclusive bargaining representative for the bargaining unit.

Job Description
75% Teaching: Responsible for instruction, assessment, remediation, and course coordination for didactic and active-learning laboratory courses in the Pharmacy School curriculum for the Pharm.D. program.
- Primary teaching responsibilities will include pharmacy skills and elective courses within the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
- Responsible for coordination of the Pharmacy School summer camp which involves scheduling activities with the Dean's office, ordering supplies, preparing handouts, and leading the hands-on activities during the camp.
- Serve as preceptor for a summer camp teaching rotation offered to fourth-year pharmacy students.
15% Service: Support the Profession, University, School of Pharmacy, and Department through their involvement and leadership roles with various committees and organizations. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Serving and chairing University, School of Pharmacy and Department committees;
- Holding elected positions in professional organizations;
- Serving on local, state and national professional organization committees.
- Other responsibilities may involve serving as an adviser for pharmacy student organizations within the School and refereeing for journals, professional association meeting materials, and/or granting agencies.
- Serve impacted communities as a valued health care professional and citizen by providing community education and professional lectures.
10% Scholarship: Research and scholarly activity is expected of the position, including, but not limited to:
- Publication of articles, abstracts and textbook chapters;
- Presentations at local, state and national professional meetings.
- Research may include any type of practice-based research, with funding as needed to support the research.
- Support may be obtained via practice plan, direct grant or contract.
- Much of the scholarship planning and production is expected to take place over the summer months due to the positions teaching load during the academic year.
Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree in pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school. For pre-2000 graduates, a BS degree is considered terminal.)(e.g., PharmD degree from ACPE-accredited school)
- Minimum of 3 years' work experience as a pharmacist in a practice setting
- Immunization certification
- Ability to teach professional students in didactic and experiential settings as evidenced by experience in developing presentations and/or previous teaching experience including experiential rotations
- Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the State of Kansas or must obtain licensure through the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of start date
