Clinical Assistant Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical assistant in Utah?
Most Utah employers require completion of an accredited medical assistant program from a community college or vocational school, followed by a nationally recognized certification such as the CMA through AAMA or the RMA through AMT. Utah does not issue a state-specific medical assistant license, so certification and program completion are the primary credentials employers screen for. Many Salt Lake City-area programs offer externship placements that lead directly to full-time roles.
Which companies hire clinical assistants in Utah?
Utah clinical assistant roles are posted by University of Utah, Peak Healthspan, and Solis Mammography and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Utah's large integrated health systems tend to post the most openings, particularly as they expand outpatient and specialty clinic locations across Salt Lake, Utah, and Davis counties.
Which Utah cities have the most clinical assistant jobs?
Salt Lake City, Tooele, and Lehi have the most clinical assistant openings in Utah. Salt Lake City leads because of its dense concentration of hospitals, academic medical centers, and specialty clinics, while Provo and Ogden reflect the growth of regional health systems and urgent care networks serving rapidly expanding suburban populations.
Are there remote clinical assistant jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical assistant work is largely hands-on and patient-facing, which limits remote options by the nature of the role. About 13% of clinical assistant openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve care coordination, prior authorization, or telephonic triage rather than direct clinical duties.
How can I get hired as a clinical assistant in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a medical assistant externship through a Utah community college program, such as those offered at Salt Lake Community College or Utah Valley University, which often convert to direct hires at Intermountain Health or University of Utah Health clinics. Candidates coming from adjacent roles like patient service representative, phlebotomist, or CNA have an easier transition. Earning a CMA or RMA certification before applying gives a meaningful edge even without prior clinical assistant experience.
Where can I find and apply to clinical assistant jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to clinical assistant jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings updated in real time. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to whichever ones fit.
