COTA Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cota in Utah?
To become a cota in Utah, you must graduate from an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy assistant program, pass the NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant exam, and then apply for licensure through the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. Utah requires an active state license before you can practice, so the DOPL application should follow closely after your NBCOT results. Most accredited programs include a supervised fieldwork component that satisfies part of the licensing requirement.
Which companies hire cotas in Utah?
Utah cota roles are posted by Eduro Healthcare, Independence Rehab, and Intermountain Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Utah's large integrated health systems and the state's growing number of outpatient rehabilitation groups tend to post the most consistent volume across the Salt Lake City metro and surrounding communities.
Which Utah cities have the most cota jobs?
Holladay, Salt Lake City, and Midvale have the most cota openings in Utah right now. Salt Lake City dominates because Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health anchor a dense cluster of hospitals, outpatient clinics, and specialty rehab centers there, while Provo and Ogden draw volume from a mix of skilled nursing facilities, school district contracts, and regional outpatient practices serving fast-growing suburban populations.
Are there remote cota jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. Cota work is hands-on by nature, so the vast majority of roles require in-person patient contact. About 50% of cota openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative coordination, telehealth consultation, or supervisory duties rather than direct occupational therapy treatment.
How can I get hired as a cota in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate positions at large Utah health systems like Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health, both of which periodically hire cotas straight out of accredited programs and pair them with experienced supervising occupational therapists. School districts across the Wasatch Front also hire entry-level cotas for school-year contracts, which offer structured mentorship. Completing your ACOTE fieldwork hours in a Utah facility strengthens your application, and holding an active Utah DOPL license before you apply removes a common hiring barrier for candidates without prior work history.
Where can I find and apply to cota jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to cota jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your license, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
