Clinical Research Assistant Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical research assistant job in Austin?
The strongest path into Austin's clinical research market runs through its academic and hospital systems, particularly those tied to UT Dell Medical School and the Ascension Seton network, alongside the contract research organizations that have expanded operations in the Domain corridor. Candidates with hands-on patient contact, phlebotomy experience, or a science degree from a local university tend to move faster through hiring. Tailoring your application to the sponsor's therapeutic area, whether oncology, neurology, or cardiovascular, gives you a real edge in this city.
Which companies hire clinical research assistants in Austin?
Companies currently hiring clinical research assistants in Austin include GI ALLIANCE, The IMA, and Innovo Research, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Austin's hiring mix includes large academic health systems, regional contract research organizations, and early-stage biopharma companies that have relocated to the city in recent years.
Are there remote clinical research assistant jobs in Austin?
Yes, but only for specific functions, because most clinical research assistant work requires in-person patient contact, specimen handling, or on-site trial coordination. About 16% of clinical research assistant openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, largely for administrative coordination or data entry roles. In Austin, the most remote-compatible work tends to involve regulatory document management and trial data review rather than direct patient interaction.
How can I get a clinical research assistant job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Austin is applying for clinical research coordinator internships or research volunteer positions through UT Dell Medical School or St. David's HealthCare, both of which regularly bring in candidates with limited formal experience. Community college medical assistant programs in the Austin area also provide credentials that satisfy many entry-level postings. Highlighting coursework in biology, public health, or statistics, alongside any patient-facing or lab work, makes a candidate competitive for the assistant-level roles that serve as the standard local stepping stone.
Which industries hire the most clinical research assistants in Austin?
The sectors hiring the most clinical research assistants in Austin are Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Austin's growth as a health-tech and life sciences hub, anchored by its major hospital systems and a growing cluster of CROs, keeps demand for clinical research support roles consistently active across those sectors.
