Cloud Architect Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud architect in Indiana?
Cloud architecture carries no Indiana state license or exam, so the path runs through education, certification, and experience. Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems paired with a vendor certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Candidates typically build toward the role through several years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or systems architecture before stepping into a full architect position.
How much do cloud architects make in Indiana?
Cloud architects in Indiana earn a median of about $124,190 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $76,270 for the lowest 10% to over $174,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud architects in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring cloud architects in Indiana include Abacus.Ai, Salesforce, and Blue Star Partners, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's concentration of healthcare, financial services, and advanced manufacturing firms creates steady demand for architects who can design compliant, scalable cloud platforms in regulated industries.
Which Indiana cities have the most cloud architect jobs?
Carmel, Indiana, and Indianapolis account for the largest share of cloud architect openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it anchors the state's technology, financial services, and life sciences sectors, while Fort Wayne and Bloomington draw openings from large manufacturing and university-affiliated research operations that are expanding their cloud infrastructure.
Are there remote cloud architect jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields. Cloud architecture is almost entirely desk-based and tool-driven, making it one of the more remote-compatible roles in technology. About 100% of cloud architect openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly Indiana employers have embraced flexible arrangements for senior technical roles. Design, documentation, and vendor coordination are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a cloud architect in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to move into the role from a cloud engineer, systems administrator, or DevOps position, then build toward architecture responsibilities over time. Indiana employers like Salesforce, Cummins, and major Indianapolis-area health systems such as Indiana University Health regularly bring on early-career engineers into cloud infrastructure teams. Earning an associate-level certification on AWS or Azure and completing a portfolio of personal or open-source cloud projects gives candidates without formal architecture experience a concrete advantage when applying.
Where can I find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to cloud architect jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings across industries and experience levels. Search the roles that match your background, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
