IT Manager Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it manager in Indiana?
Most it manager roles in Indiana require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field, followed by several years of hands-on IT experience in roles like systems administrator, network engineer, or IT analyst. Indiana does not require a state-issued license for it managers, but earning a recognized certification such as CompTIA Project+, PMP, or a vendor-specific credential strengthens applications significantly with Indiana's major healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services employers.
How much do IT managers make in Indiana?
IT managers in Indiana earn a median of about $142,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $94,780 for the lowest 10% to over $214,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it managers in Indiana?
Employers hiring it managers in Indiana right now include Delta Faucet Company, Levy, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's mix of large healthcare systems, pharmaceutical companies, and manufacturing headquarters means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Indiana cities have the most it manager jobs?
Indianapolis, Elkhart, and Columbus account for the most it manager openings in Indiana. Indianapolis generates the highest volume by far as the state capital and home to major corporate headquarters in healthcare, finance, and logistics, while Fort Wayne's manufacturing base and Bloomington's university and medical community drive consistent hiring in those metros.
Are there remote it manager jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than many management roles, since it managers regularly oversee distributed teams and cloud-based infrastructure that do not require daily on-site presence. About 38% of it manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader technology industry flexibility. Roles focused on cybersecurity oversight, vendor management, and enterprise software administration tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions overseeing physical infrastructure or data centers typically require on-site availability.
How can I get hired as a it manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an it manager role from a senior individual-contributor position such as systems administrator, network analyst, or IT support lead within an Indiana organization. Large Indiana employers like Indiana University Health, Eli Lilly, and Salesforce's Indianapolis operations post associate or team-lead roles that serve as a bridge to full management. Building a portfolio of project ownership, earning a PMP or ITIL certification, and taking on supervisory responsibilities in your current team are the credentials that most often tip the decision in Indiana hiring.
Where can I find and apply to it manager jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to it manager jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated on an ongoing basis. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each position that fits.
