Role Purpose Statement

The Senior Quality Assurance Lead operates with a high degree of autonomy, managing operational plans and large projects with limited oversight from management, leading and participating with comparable influence in large projects and initiatives, while providing leadership to professionals and support staff. Responsibilities include overseeing and leading a team of IT quality assurance professionals to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive testing strategies that align with business objectives and industry best practices. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software applications and IT solutions that meet the needs of the business. A deep understanding of industry best practices, coupled with a proactive approach to process improvement and innovation, are essential for success.

Main Accountabilities

Leads and inspires a team of IT Quality Assurance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous learning.

Provides clear direction, assigns tasks, sets performance expectations, and conducts regular performance evaluations.

Mentors team members, providing guidance and support to enhance technical skills and career development.

Designs, develops, and implements strategic quality assurance plans for complex IT projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements, industry standards, and best practices using test management tools like QTest / ALM.

Defines the testing scope, objectives, methodology, and deliverables for each project, ensuring clear documentation and communication to all stakeholders. Proactively identifies and mitigates potential risks related to software quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Develops, implements, and champions a robust framework for test automation, leveraging tools like TOSCA to create maintainable, scalable, and reusable automated test suites.

Establishes automation best practices, coding standards, and a structured approach to test script development and maintenance.

Integrates automated testing seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines to promote continuous testing, faster feedback, and accelerated delivery cycles.

Oversees and participates in performance testing activities, employing industry-standard tools and techniques to measure and analyze application performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for scalability and responsiveness.

Provides expert analysis and recommendations on complex technical issues related to software quality, collaborating with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve defects effectively.

Contributes to the continuous improvement of IT quality assurance processes, methodologies, and tools, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including IT leadership, project managers, software development teams, IT operations, business stakeholders, and external vendors.

Stays at the forefront of emerging technologies, testing techniques, and industry trends, actively seeking opportunities to innovate and enhance the QA process.

Technical

Extensive knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, etc.).

In-depth understanding of testing methodologies, techniques, and tools, including test automation frameworks and experience with specific tools like TOSCA.

Proficiency in test management platforms such as QTest for comprehensive test planning, execution, defect tracking, reporting, and integration with automation tools.

Strong experience in performance testing using industry-standard tools and best practices.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Education & Experience

Typically bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field required with 8 - 12 years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
