Data Center Manager Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data center manager in Indiana?
Most Indiana data center manager roles require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or systems engineering combined with several years of hands-on data center operations experience. Indiana does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so hiring managers rely heavily on industry credentials such as the Certified Data Center Professional designation. Candidates who move into management typically come from systems administrator, network engineer, or data center technician backgrounds.
How much do data center managers make in Indiana?
Data center managers in Indiana earn a median of about $108,720 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,690 for the lowest 10% to over $174,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data center managers in Indiana?
Employers hiring data center managers in Indiana right now include Amazon, CBRE, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of large pharmaceutical, technology, and advanced manufacturing headquarters creates consistent demand for on-site data center leadership across both corporate and colocation environments.
Which Indiana cities have the most data center manager jobs?
New Carlisle, Indianapolis, and Michigan City have the most data center manager openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters and a growing colocation corridor, while Fort Wayne and Columbus generate openings through large manufacturing and logistics operations that depend on enterprise IT infrastructure requiring dedicated facility management.
Are there remote data center manager jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Data center management is inherently hands-on, requiring physical oversight of servers, power systems, and cooling infrastructure, which limits fully remote arrangements. About 10% of data center manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to involve multi-site oversight, vendor coordination, or policy and compliance functions rather than day-to-day floor operations.
How can I get hired as a data center manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a data center technician or IT operations analyst role at one of Indiana's large employers, such as a major Indianapolis-area hospital system, a corporate IT department, or a colocation provider. From there, candidates build toward management by earning a Certified Data Center Professional credential, taking on shift lead responsibilities, and gaining exposure to budgeting and vendor management. Associate-level infrastructure roles at Indiana manufacturing companies are also a common lateral entry point.
Where can I find and apply to data center manager jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to data center manager jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find one that fits your experience and target location, and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
