IT Project Manager Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it project manager in Indiana?
Indiana does not require a state-issued license to work as an it project manager. The standard path is a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or business, followed by hands-on project coordination experience. Most Indiana employers expect or strongly prefer the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Earning the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) first is a common stepping stone for candidates who are earlier in their careers.
How much do IT project managers make in Indiana?
IT project managers in Indiana earn a median of about $95,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,120 for the lowest 10% to over $149,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it project managers in Indiana?
Indiana it project manager roles are posted by Calumet, Novisync, and Collabera and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's concentration of life sciences, financial services, and advanced manufacturing firms means IT project managers often work on complex ERP, compliance, and digital transformation initiatives rather than pure software startups.
Which Indiana cities have the most it project manager jobs?
Indianapolis, Evansville, and Indiana have the most it project manager openings in Indiana. Indianapolis drives the largest share of demand as the state capital and home to major corporate headquarters in healthcare, insurance, and technology, while Fort Wayne and Bloomington contribute openings tied to regional manufacturing operations and Indiana University's growing tech ecosystem.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 63% of it project manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on coordination, documentation, and virtual meetings rather than on-site presence. Project phases that require vendor oversight or data center work tend to call for in-person availability, while planning, reporting, and stakeholder management are routinely done remotely.
How can I get hired as a it project manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into project coordination from an adjacent role such as business analyst, IT support specialist, or software tester, titles that appear regularly at Indiana employers like Salesforce, Anthem, and OneAmerica. Large Indiana health systems and financial services firms often post junior project coordinator or PMO analyst roles that require no prior formal PM experience.
