IT Project Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it project manager in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license for it project managers, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most Florida employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or business, combined with the Project Management Professional certification issued by the Project Management Institute. Candidates who add a Certified Associate in Project Management credential first and then build toward PMP while working entry-level coordinator or analyst roles in Florida tech, healthcare, or defense firms progress most reliably.
How much do IT project managers make in Florida?
IT project managers in Florida earn a median of about $98,070 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,070 for the lowest 10% to over $161,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it project managers in Florida?
Employers hiring it project managers in Florida right now include Space Coast Credit Union, Entech, and Vacatia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors near Orlando, large health systems throughout the state, and financial services firms in Miami means ongoing demand with employers that hire repeatedly rather than in isolated bursts.
Which Florida cities have the most it project manager jobs?
Miami, Miramar, and Bradenton are the Florida cities with the most it project manager openings. Tampa draws heavily from its financial services, healthcare, and managed IT services sectors, Orlando's concentration of defense contractors and hospitality technology firms drives consistent volume, and Miami's role as a regional headquarters hub for finance and multinational corporations keeps demand steady there as well.
Are there remote it project manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 86% of it project manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role runs through meetings, documentation, and coordination tools rather than physical presence. Project phases involving vendor management, reporting, and sprint ceremonies are the most consistently remote, while kickoff sessions and stakeholder reviews more often require on-site attendance.
How can I get hired as a it project manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a business analyst, IT support, or helpdesk role into a junior project coordinator position, which many large Florida employers treat as the on-ramp for it project managers. AdventHealth, Citigroup's Tampa operations, and Florida's defense contracting sector around Orlando all run structured associate and rotational programs that bring in candidates without direct PM experience. Earning the Certified Associate in Project Management credential before applying, and building a portfolio of even informal project work, distinguishes candidates at this stage.
Where can I find and apply to it project manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to it project manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers hiring now. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly without creating a profile or going through a third-party process.
