Cloud Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud engineer in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a cloud engineer. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, combined with a recognized cloud certification such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or Google Associate Cloud Engineer. Building hands-on lab experience through personal projects or internships and completing one of these certifications is the most reliable path into Texas roles.
How much do cloud engineers make in Texas?
Cloud engineers in Texas earn a median of about $111,530 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $55,480 for the lowest 10% to over $174,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring cloud engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, financial institutions, and large technology campuses means demand is consistent across multiple industries rather than confined to a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most cloud engineer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Plano have the most cloud engineer openings in Texas. Austin's technology corridor anchors a large share of the roles, Dallas draws volume from its dense concentration of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, and Houston adds steady demand from energy and healthcare organizations that have invested heavily in cloud migration over recent years.
Are there remote cloud engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of cloud engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fact that cloud infrastructure work is largely performed through web-based consoles and remote terminals rather than on physical hardware. Roles focused on architecture, DevOps, and cloud security tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a cloud engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior cloud support or cloud operations associate role, which large Texas employers in energy and financial services regularly post as entry-level positions. Earning an entry-level cloud certification such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals gives your application a concrete edge. Adjacent roles in IT support, systems administration, and network operations at Texas-based healthcare systems and tech campuses are also common stepping stones into cloud engineering.
Where can I find and apply to cloud engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cloud engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
