Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on expertise in embedded software, firmware development, and Embedded Linux platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux Kernel development, BSP customization, device driver development, board bring-up, RTOS environments, and ARM-based architectures.
This role involves working closely with hardware, firmware, validation, and system engineering teams to develop next-generation embedded products used in IoT, networking, semiconductor, robotics, automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing scalable, high-performance, and secure embedded solutions from concept through production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain embedded software and firmware using C and C++.
- Develop and customize Board Support Packages (BSP) for embedded Linux platforms.
- Design and implement Linux kernel modules and device drivers.
- Perform hardware bring-up and software integration on new embedded platforms.
- Develop and optimize bootloaders, system initialization, and board-level software.
- Work closely with hardware teams to understand schematics, processor architectures, and peripheral interfaces.
- Develop applications and middleware on Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms.
- Implement communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, BLE, and Wi-Fi.
- Analyze and resolve system-level performance, latency, and memory optimization issues.
- Support secure boot, firmware signing, OTA/FOTA updates, and cybersecurity initiatives.
- Debug complex hardware/software integration issues using JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership initiatives.
Required Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.
Experience
- 10+ years of professional experience in Embedded Software Engineering.
- Strong experience developing embedded software in C and Modern C++.
- Extensive experience with Embedded Linux development.
- Proven expertise in Linux Kernel internals and device driver development.
- Hands-on experience with BSP development and customization.
- Experience performing board bring-up activities on custom hardware platforms.
- Strong understanding of ARM Cortex-A and ARM Cortex-M architectures.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in embedded environments.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Required Technical Skills
- Embedded Development: Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C, Modern C++ (C++11/14/17), Python, and Shell/Bash scripting.
- Embedded Linux: Extensive experience with Linux Kernel Development, Device Drivers, BSP Development, Yocto Project, Buildroot, U-Boot, and Device Tree Configuration.
- RTOS: Strong experience working with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS, QNX, VxWorks, Zephyr, and ThreadX.
- Hardware Platforms: Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-A/Cortex-M architectures and embedded platforms including NXP, STM32, TI, Qualcomm, and Microchip.
- Communication Protocols: Strong knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN/CAN-FD, USB, Ethernet, TCP/IP, MQTT, BLE, and Wi-Fi communication protocols.
- Debugging & Validation: Experience with JTAG, Lauterbach, GDB, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers for hardware/software debugging and system validation.
- DevOps & Version Control: Proficiency with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and software development automation practices.
